Now in my last post from last week I mentioned that I was debating making a two piece. Well I made a dress, which was the main consensus! Thanks everyone!
By adding a waistband it tied the whole thing in again. The waistband spells out “Heroes”.
But if you remember I had lengthened my bodice pieces as they were too short, but then adding the waistband I had to rip the waistband and skirt off again and shorten the bodice by 2 inches! So typical that I didn’t keep that in mind.
I have owned a 50s style sarong dress and knew I didn’t feel comfy in it, so I chose to make a half circle skirt instead. It ended up being quite long to show off the print (the Hulk has to be included). I also lined the skirt as it was a little see through.
Overall I am so proud of this but a bit annoyed at my zipper. I ripped it twice but it just sort of kept twisting every time. I think it may have to do with how the circle skirt was cut, but I am sure in the future I will have an epiphany regarding this issue. I may even rip it out once more to try an invisible zipper.
Another big thing for me was “I don’t need any straps!” Yes this dress stays up, even if you have a small bust! I haven’t even added in the waist stay. it just doesn’t budge. I am a convert! I cant believe I own a strapless dress! I still added the buttons though and made one strap so far for a halterneck version! ![]()
I still need to hem it but need the boyfriend to help me with it to get it even (wait til he reads this lol). The last skirt I hemmed I winged it and it wasn’t so good. It is definitely one of those things to pay attention to and have a helping hand!
Now are you ready for some pics? Disclaimer – some DC stuff may get mixed with my Marvel dress in the next pics (sorry boyfriend
)
