Finally, I made the Alma Blouse by sewaholic. I chose view A with a cute V on the neckline and added the long sleeves but omitted the belt. Already showing off the versatility of this pattern!
The front and back bodice for View A feature those diamond shaped darts … I hate them but do like the effect they have. They are very good for fitting but a pain in my eyes.
I skim read the instructions on making the long sleeves with the cuff and decided I wanted an easier (well quicker) make. My boyfriend liked the “wizard sleeves” without the gather so I just added bias tape and stitched it down twice.
To tie the whole thing together I did the same to the bottom as well. It is about an inch shorter than I like even though I only folded a tiny bit under for the hem. So next time we will add a couple of inches to the bodice pieces.
Overall I am super happy especially as I didn’t follow the instructions and hence omitted the zipper … I can still get in and out of it easily. lol.
I was across like 4 sizes for this top and chose the one according to my upper bust measurements which seemed to work.
In conclusion this is a win! Even if a bit short but I will just make something high waisted or wear a camisole underneath. I really like the pattern and love the versatility of it.
Did you notice it matches my most recent Thurlows?
